Ollie
Project 1
Ollie’s Project 1 was developed in response to the starting point ‘Imaginary’. Throughout the project, he designed his own imaginary creatures, exploring how they could be placed within different environments to create imaginative and engaging scenes. To develop his ideas in greater depth, Ollie undertook extensive research and experimentation, exploring a range of materials, media and illustration styles, alongside the use of colour, line and scale to enhance his work. He drew inspiration from a variety of sources, including book illustrators and concept artists.
“I chose my starting point because I love creating art from my imagination - characters, creatures, whole worlds. I love fantasy art especially dragons!”
Project 2
Ollie’s Project 2 was developed in response to the starting point ‘Layers’. Inspired by the work of artist Paul Jackson, he began by creating his own compositions using first-hand imagery, exploring how the different layers within living creatures could be separated and represented visually. Further inspiration from the work of Stacia Baldwin led Ollie to develop his ideas by incorporating three-dimensional elements, adding depth and complexity to his compositions. Throughout the project, he experimented with a wide range of media, materials and colour combinations, refining his ideas to produce a successful final response.
“I have always been fascinated by fossils and skeletal structures, especially of animals. Through this project I really hoped that I could explore the anatomical structure of animals further, bringing together a fusion of science and art”
